Hospice
is about living with comfort and dignity. Hospice care can take place
anywhere, including a patient's home and facility-based settings.
Hospice is a coordinated health care program that provides comfort and
supportive care to patients and their loved ones.
Hospice offers palliative, or comfort non-curative care, emotional
closure and personal peace for the patient and the family or
caregiver. Hospice emphasizes the quality of life, focusing on pain
control, symptom management and relieving the psychological and
emotional distress of both the patient and the family or caregiver.
Physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice aides and
volunteers work as a team to address all of the needs of the patients.
Their goal is to add quality and dignity to the remainder of the
patient’s life.
Bereavement care for the family extends for a period of 13 months after the death of patient.
Hospice care means living life to its fullest.
